Luke Sheppard will direct a revival of Oliver! at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury this Summer.

Running from 31 July to 19 September, the production will feature the Watermill's trademark actor-musician ensemble, promising a "new twist" on Lionel Bart's classic musical.

Based on Dickens's Oliver Twist, Oliver! first opened in the West End in 1960, and has since had numerous revivals, including 2013's WhatsOnStage Award-winning production at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre. It is being staged at Leicester Curve this Christmas.

Casting for the production, which will feature a supporting cast from the Watermill Youth Theatre and children from the local community, is to be announced.

Oliver! will have design by Tom Rogers, with lighting design by Howard Hudson and musical supervision and arrangements by Paul Herbert.
