Photos have been released offering a glimpse at Five Telegrams – the opening event of the Edinburgh International Festival, which took place last week.

15,000 people gathered to watch the outdoor event, a 25 minute piece composed by Anna Meredith and created and directed by Richard Slanley of Olivier Award-winning company 59 Productions.

Made up of five movements, each one focused on an aspect of communication during World War One, the piece featured a multi-media show with light and projections mapped onto the façade of Usher Hall.
