Chichester Festival Theatre's WhatsOnStage Award-winning production of Singin' in the Rain will return for a new limited five-week in London in summer 2020.

Directed by Jonathan Church and choreographed by Andrew Wright, the piece runs at Sadler's Wells from 24 July 2020, with official opening night on 30 July.

Actor and choreographer Adam Cooper will return to the role of Don Lockwood after playing the role in Chichester in 2011 and in the West End in 2012. Further casting is to be announced.

The piece, which has book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, follows Lockwood, a Hollywood silent movie star who has a tricky time when the talkies are invented. It features numbers by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, including "Make ‘em Laugh", "Good Morning, Moses Supposes" and "Singin' in the Rain".

Singin' in the Rain was released in cinemas in 1952, before being adapted into a stage show in the 1980s, first running in the West End.

The London show has design by Simon Higlett, with lighting by Tim Mitchell. Tickets go on sale on 8 July.
