Jon Brittain's Olivier Award-winning play is to return to tour the UK in 2019.

The piece originally opened at Theatre503 in 2015 before transferring to Trafalgar Studios in 2016 and winning Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre in the 2017 Olivier Awards. It transferred to the Arts Theatre in 2017.

Rotterdam follows Alice and Fiona at the point in their relationship when Fiona reveals he has always identified as a male and now wants to start living as a man called Adrian.

Donnacadh O'Briain's production opens its first touring dates on 4 April at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, before heading to venues including Theatre Royal Brighton, York Theatre Royal, Leicester Haymarket Theatre, Glassbox Theatre, Northcott Theatre, Malvern Theatre, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, Nuffield Southampton Theatres and Devonshire Park Theatre. The tour continues until June 2019.

The play's cast and further dates are yet to be announced, but Hartshorn – Hook Productions, the producers, are committed to ensuring Rotterdam has equality and gender diversity among the cast and creatives. In a five star review for WhatsOnStage, Lucinda Everett called the script: "Sharply observed, moving and very funny."

Brittain wrote Rotterdam after several of his friends transitioned in the late 2000s.
