Disney's Aladdin is to close in the West End, it has been announced.

Mary Poppins is due to return to London, opening at the Prince Edward Theatre. Aladdin will therefore close in late August 2019.

The news comes as Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp are announced in the revival as Poppins and Bert, in Mary Poppins, opening in autumn 2019.

Aladdin opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in June 2016, with a host of positive reviews including one from Sarah Crompton for WhatsOnStage. She said the show had "mischievous warmth and production numbers that throw everything including streamers and fireworks into the sheer effort of making."

The original cast were Dean John-Wilson and Jade Ewen as Aladdin and Princess Jasmine and Trevor Dion Nicholas playing the Genie. The current cast is Matthew Croke as Aladdin, with Michael James Scott playing the Genie over the summer.
