Claire first worked with Alan Menken and Howard Ashman in the original UK production of Little Shop of Horrors, where she understudied the role of Audrey, taking over from Ellen Greene after the first six months of the run. She also played Mrs Fezziwig in the Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens 2004 film of A Christmas Carol. Claire was in the original companies of The Phantom of the Opera playing Christine and Miss Saigon, originating the role of Ellen.

Other notable West End roles include: Nimue in Camelot (Apollo Victoria), Fantine in Les Miserables (Palace Theatre), Nancy in Oliver! (London Palladium), Anna Leonowens in The King and I (London Palladium), Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables (Queens Theatre).

For the National Theatre: Hattie Walker in Follies (Olivier Theatre), June/Carole and various roles in London Road (Cottesloe* and Olivier Theatres), Ensemble in The Duchess of Malfi (Lyttelton Theatre), Felicity in The Real Inspector Hound (Olivier Theatre), multi roles in The Critic (Olivier Theatre), Anya in The Cherry Orchard (Cottesloe, *now Dorfman Theatre).

Recent West End roles include: Babs in The Great British Bake Off, the Musical (Noel Coward Theatre), Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre), Felicia in The Witches of Eastwick, Staged Concert (Sondheim Theatre). Claire played Chris in the musical of Calendar Girls (Grand Theatre Leeds and The Lowry) and she was nominated for an Olivier Award when the show transferred to the West End (Phoenix Theatre).
