Stage and television star Darren Day replaces Alex Bourne as 'Danny' in the West End production of Grease at the Cambridge Theatre from Monday, 1 March 1999.

Day has starred most recently in the stage musical of Summer Holiday which played in London and toured throughout the country. Other theatre credits include the lead in the touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Day has also hosted many series on British television including You Bet and Don't Try This at Home.

Day joins the rest of the Grease cast which stars Nikki Worrall, Michele Hooper, Tom Kanavan, Mark Marson, Paul Gyngell, Jo Martell, Leigh-Anne Stone, Lee Bright, Charlotte Gorton, Nigel Francis, Sean Oliver, Katherine Fletcher, Ben Stock, Stephanie Johns and Kim Leeson.

Grease opened at the Dominion Theatre on 15 July 1993 and transferred to the Cambridge Theatre on 24 October 1996. Several British pop and TV stars have played the part of 'Danny' - including Shane Richie, Luke Goss and Craig McLauchlan. Other well known former cast members include Debbie Gibson, Samantha Janus, Sonia and Adam Garcia, now starring in Saturday Night Fever at the Palladium. Alumni of previous stage productions include Richard Gere, Elaine Page, Tracey Ullman, Treat Williams and Paul Nicholas.

The London production is the first stage show to use songs from the hit 1970s film, including 'You're the One that I Want', 'Hopelessly Devoted to You', 'Sandy' and the title song, 'Grease'.
