Damned Praed & Zimmerman Reunite On a Couch
Date: 9 March 2004

Michael Praed (pictured) will reunite this month with his Contact co-star Leigh Zimmerman, when both star in the premiere of Carl Djreassi’s comedy Three on a Couch, running from 29 March to 25 April 2004 (previews from 17 March) at the fringe King’s Head Theatre. Praed replaces Owen Brenman who has left the production due to “artistic differences” (See News, 1 Mar 2004).

Set in New York, Three on a Couch revolves around an egomaniac writer (played by Rolf Saxon), his neurotic shrink (Praed) and his rather cross but beautiful wife (Zimmerman).

A world-famous scientist, best known for the synthesis of the contraceptive pill in the 1960s, Djerassi is the author of multiple novels and plays such as An Immaculate Misconception. Three on a Couch is directed by Andy Jordan and designed by Nicky Shaw.

Prior to Contact, Praed’s musical theatre credits included Aspects of Love and The Pirates of Penzance. Following Three on a Couch, he’ll star as F Scott Fitzgerald in the new musical The Beautiful and the Damned (See News, 27 Jan 2004), which opens at the West End’s Lyric Theatre on 6 May 2004 (previews from 28 April).

Similarly, Zimmerman will follow the Djerassi play with a return to musical theatre, playing the female lead in Mel Brooks’ The Producers in the autumn (See News, 1 Mar 2004).
