The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced its next two shows, Terence Rattigan‘s Love in Idleness and Peter Shaffer‘s Lettice and Lovage.

Trevor Nunn will return to direct both plays having previously directed A Little Night Music and Aspects of Love at the venue.

Love in Idleness runs from 20 March until 29 April, with previews from 9 March, and tells of an eighteen-year-old who returns from Canada during the war and is shocked to find his widowed mother is now the mistress of a cabinet minister.

Lettice and Lovage, Shaffer's play about a stately home tourist guide who is dismissed and subsequently develops an unlikely friendship with her supervisor, receives its first major revival since the 1987 West End production starring Maggie Smith. It runs from 17 May to 8 July, with previews from 4 May.

Tickets for Love in Idleness go on sale from 1 February, and from 1 March for Lettice and Lovage.

She Loves Me continues to run at the Menier until 4 March.
