Alan Bennett's multi award-winning The History Boys is being revived for a major UK tour next year.

The 2004 play, recently voted the nation's favourite in a poll by English Touring Theatre, will be directed by Kate Saxon and produced by Sell A Door.

ETT are supporting the production by giving away 100 pairs of free tickets throughout the 2015 tour, to anyone who has never attended their local theatre before. Details of how to apply can be found here.

David Hutchinson, artistic director of Sell a Door, said: "We are delighted to be launching our 2015 season with the UK revival tour of the nation's favourite play by one of Britain's most cherished playwrights.

"Sell a Door prides itself on engaging young adults in live theatre, and our partnership with English Touring Theatre subsidising free tickets will allow hundreds of first time patrons to see this critically acclaimed play."

The tour opens at the Palace Theatre, Southend from 26 to 31 January 2015, before visiting locations including Coventry, Brighton, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Ipswich, Blackpool, Porstmouth, Bromley, Exeter, York and Malvern.
