BBC bosses in talks to turn EastEnders into a musical?

Warning: May contain satire

Following the recent throng of West End stars – including Bonnie Langford, Maria Friedman, Declan Bennett and Paul Nicholas – joining EastEnders, producers at the BBC are said to be in talks to create the world's first weekly Musical Soap Opera, renaming the popular soap WestEnders.

The televised musical will feature numbers including "Get Out Of My Pub", "You Ain't My Muvva!" followed by the reprise "Yes I Am!", and a moving ballad from Ian Beale called "I've Got Nothing Left".

Drew McOnie, who is in talks to choreograph the weekly musical, is said to have ambitious plans including a 100 person strong tap routine in Albert Square.

When asked about a potential storyline in which Danny Dyer's character Mick Carter finds out he has a long lost twin who was sold to a wealthy couple at birth, Dyer commented: "I can't tell you anything about it, but it's going to be f**king mental bruv."

The world famous Albert Square will be redesigned by Es Devlin to include a revolve which will turn to reveal various Walford spots including Beale's Plaice, Dot's Laundrette and Albert's bench.
