Initial casting has been announced for the 50th anniversary production of Hair, which opens at The Vaults in October.

Jonathan O'Boyle will direct the immersive production, which transfers following a critically acclaimed run at the Hope Mill Theatre last year. New additions to the cast include
Daniel Bailey (Motown), Adam Dawson (West Side Story) and Jessie May (Blondel).

They join returning cast members Natalie Green (Wicked), Laura Johnson (Grease) Shekina McFarlane (Parade), Robert Metson (Bear), Liam Ross-Mills (Les Miserables) Koryann Stevens (West Side Story) and Kirsten Wright (Our Seasons End).

With a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot, Hair is set in the East Village of New York in 1967 and tells the story of a tribe of young people yearning to change the world — under the shadow of the Vietnam War. It features the songs "Aquarius", "Let the Sun Shine In" and "Good Morning Star Shine".

The production — which will have choreography by William Whelton (Our House) and musical direction by Gareth Bretherton (Seasons of Larson) — will be preceded by an immersive experience including pop-up restaurants and themed stalls. Post-show entertainment will include '60s discos, live bands, and screenings of iconic '60s movies.

Hair will run at The Vaults from 11 October to 14 January 2018, with previews from 4 October.
