Love him; have you heard him on the radio in Cabin Pressure - was on a Friday morning but finished now? Comedy timing etc excellent but also good very serious 'classical' actor.

He's an amazingly versatile actor - I've only recently seen him on stage in La Cage Aux Folles but in previous years I've noticed him in various TV/film productions incl The Thick Of It, Catherine Tate, Ashes To Ashes, Inspector Morse, Krod Mandoon. He can be straight / serious / flaming / comic with equal conviction - seems he can turn his hand to virtually any acting style, and do a good job of it to boot.

Cabin Pressure was *hysterical* (or rather, he was) -- and he is the only Albin in all four casts (this far) in La Cage to bring me to tears. I think he is incredible.

I am having dreams of Allam and Simon Russell Beale on stage together -- I might actually die of joy. /ponders Now what play might that be? I am thinking it would be too joyous to have the pair play La Cage....

Off the top of my head, I can remember them together in Terry Hands' Seagull, Jekyll and Hyde, Money and Summerfolk, and plenty of Radio plays, with any luck their paths will cross again soon.

They were all great. Maybe Roger Allam could join SRB in Deathtrap.

Cabin Pressure is brilliant. He does do a lot of Radio 4 (as do SRB and Alex Jennings).

Did you see him scraping the bottom of the acting barrel in the motion picture "Speed Racer" ? One of the most demeaning screen appearances by one of our stage greats since Fiona Shaw graced "Three Men and a Little Lady".

Love him. Most recently saw him several times as Albin in La Cage aux Folles and he was brilliant. So many things that he's done in the past that I wish I'd been old and/or interested enough to see.

Didn't see it but saw the trailer a few times. RA apparently playing an inflated Tim Curry?
