Howdy! I'm heading to Stratford-upon-Avon tomorrow, planning to arrive around 12.30pm and not planning on leaving until after 10.30pm. I'll be travelling by car, but am not quite sure what my best options are for parking for that length of time without paying the earth. Any advice will be most gratefully received!

There is a car park by the bridge and the Holiday Inn (check streetmap.co.uk postcode CV37 6YR) which is not far from the theatre and just outside the centre which was not too expensive and was long stay. Was easy to park there in February!

I tend to park by the Butterfly Farm which is just a walk across the river. Never had a problem getting parked there and it's not extortionate at all.

I was having a look at some website about parking, and the thing that worries is me when it says "parking up to 6 hours: £so many. Parking up to 24 hours: £20!". I want to park for more than 6 hours, but I don't want to spend more than an entire week's food budget on a car park! wink.gif Am I being unnecessarily worried? It wouldn't cost a full £20 for under 12 hours, would it? D:

I park in the Recreation Car Park, which is also near the Butterfly Farm (Swan's Nest Road.) They have a barrier to close off the rear part of the car park after 9pm - it is well signed - so you need to ensure you park in the other part. Lots of spaces and not extortionate.

This gives a list of car parks and charges:

It's cheaper after 6pm. It may even be free - can't remember. So it's £6 plus something extra possibly, but not £20.

Yes, that's the site! Can you tell I'm usually a public transport girl, my complete inability to trust car parks? laugh.gif

The Pay & Display is a bit tricky as you have to calculate how many hours you want in advance, so people stand gazing at the machine with a lost expression ticking off the time on their fingers

This suggests that the charge for 6 pm onwards is £3, so you'd be looking at £9 overall. However, it may be possible to get free on road parking after 6pm if you can be bothered/are sufficiently fiscally motivated to move the car.

Well, Julius Caesar isn't likely to still be going at around 6pm, so I might just have a bash at that. Thank you very much for your help. smile.gif
