Anyone got any good suggestions for reasonably priced hotel accomodation within walking distance of Broadway?

Hotel Pennsylvania, 7th Ave and 33rd Street- slightly further from Times Square than oldlady's suggestions, but an easy walk (I did it on the night we arrived, just wandering in a straight line without really knowing where I was going; just discovered Times Square in the middle of the night!). It's very basic (the beds and shower were designed for people shorter than me!), but a great location, big rooms, clean, and our room even had a view of the Empire State Building!

I booked through Expedia, and it was very good value.

I've stayed at the Courtyard Marriott (40th St./Fifth Avenue) and Holiday Inn (Midtown 57th/between Ninth and Tenth Ave.), both of which are outside the Theatre District, but a short walk. I have a friend who's stayed at the Best Western President (48th St.) right in the Theatre District and which is a good value. I've also stayed at the Marriott Marquis and Crowne Plaza in Times Square (expensive, unless you can get a deal). I've also stayed at the Paramount (46th St.), which has high style, small rooms, good location. The service was poor and snooty (at least it was many years ago), but it would be a good choice for young people.

Thats not exactly a cheapy hotel either! smile.gif

Best value is Radio City Apartments just mins from Times Square (in fact my apartment had views of times sq) Staying there again in dec.

One thing to remember, New York is WAY over priced, more so than London, especially Sept - end of Dec.

Be careful of the Pennsylvania, we used to sell it (and some rooms are ok) but there were also lots of complaints about mice/rats. You need to go for a renovated room.

The Paramount is no longer owned by Philipe Starke/Ian schrager so im not sure what state its in before.

For expensive and trendy W hotels are great. I still cant believe The Plaza Hotel is no more sad.gif

I didn't stay in the Marriott Marquis, but they have possibly the fastest lifts I've ever been in!
