You can pretty much tell my opinion from that thread. It hasn't changed much. She was in my opinion, the best Elphaba we've had. She had so much passion for the role. Her voice was fantastic although not what you'd usually expect from an Elphaba (she was slightly Caissie Levy-ish). Many people felt her acting was spot on and she really understood Elphaba but some people also thought she could be slightly wooden. I think the former, she was fantastic and she really made you feel for Elphaba. Her act 1 was to die for because she fits young Elphaba perfectly, her act 2 wasn't as strong but she's the only Elphaba that I've seen actually make Elphaba turn Wicked after Fiyero. Her No Good Deed is fantastic although the scariest thing I've ever watched (but she'll never beat Kerry's
). She never really riffed majorly, she had little alexia-isms all over the place though.
I felt her chemistry with the cast was great and Alexia/Dianne are my favourite pairing I've seen so far. Alexia really brought Glinda out of Dianne. The Oliver/Alexia chemistry was good, not as great as Kerry/Oliver but still believable enough. I didn't really like Sarah/Alexia that much looking back but I only seen them once.
Since she's left, I've seen Kerry and there's things I love about each of them but if you ever asked me who I felt was the best Elphaba, I'd have to say Alexia. She is a powerhouse, her last No Good Deed was bloody amazing, her Defying Gravity is SO clear and her voice blends with Dianne's a treat (especially in For Good where their harmonies are beautiful and it's the best vocal performance of that song I've ever heard). The thing I liked about Alexia though, she really grew into the role and by the end she was trying different things and she was just settling into the role so I'm so glad she gets to come back and recreate it. I'm sure the time away has given her the chance to work on the not so great stuff (such as holding the notes and not rushing some of the line delivery) and now she's one year older, I'm sure she has a slightly different perspective on Elphaba than when she first started. I'm interested to see what changes she's made and can't wait to see her back on that stage.
Oh and most consistant Elphaba ever (only two sick days in the whole of her six month run, fantastic!)
