I have just read on another board that the lion king is closing next year. Disney have made this decision apprently as they want to bring a new show in.

Little mermaid?

Tarzan?

No way in hell it'll be Tarzan...more likely to be Little Mermaid, but still I'd be surprised to see that coming over here...perhaps they're going to retool it to make it less awful?
He used to call me — Blue Roses.

That's such a shame. It was one of the first musicals I ever saw and I loved it to bits!
Having heard reviews from Broadway, I hope they don;t bring Little Mermaid over. It just looks tacky and more for kids where as the Lion Kind impresses older people by it's magnificent costuming and set design.

I'll have to make sure I see this over summer just in case it does close! :'(

Close it.

Its only on for tourists anyway. The standard of acting and singing in the show is dire and has been for years. Ive never heard so many off tune notes in a west end theatre when I went to it last year.

It will be The Little Mermaid. Tarzan bombed in NY.....at least TLM is doing great business over there....

I don't think you should be so quick to dismiss 'Aida'.

Wouldn't it be nice if we got 'The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' though? happy.gif

So? Tarzan is doing very well in the Netherlands and the pre-sales in Germany are good - just because it flopped on Broadway does not mean it would in London. And yes, I know you cannot compare the Netherlands to the UK but neither can you compare Broadway to London (see e.g. Drowsy)

Mermaid is a more likely choice

Aida isn't an easy sell
