Having read that Lesley Garrett would be a Judge on the forthcoming series of Celebrity Fame Academy,
I wanted to find out what effect that might have on her appearances in The Sound Of Music.

Official Sound Of Music website says (or yesterday said):

-------------------------------------------------------

London Palladium, Argyll Street, London W1

Now Booking to 13th October 2007

Please note: Lesley Garrett's final performance will be on 28th April 2007.

Miss Garrett is not scheduled to appear at all performances before that date.

Please check with the Box Office before purchasing your tickets.

Box Office Tel 0870 890 1108

-------------------------------------------------------

Last night I phoned that number, to check precise dates.

-------------------------------------------------------

I was told Lesley Garrett will NOT be in The Sound Of Music from this SatMarch3evening until FriMarch16, INCLUSIVE.

ie Lesley Garrett IS scheduled to perform in The Sound Of Music THIS SAT MATINEE -
then not again until the SAT MATINEE of MARCH 17th.

And NB Lesley Garrett doesn't perform in The Sound of Music on Thursdays.

-------------------------------------------------------

I very much appreciate this information being made available to the public -
although I'd much rather the actual dates were on the website!

Aint that ****ing typical. Guess when I am going, yup this Saturday evening.
Living in Bristol its only possible to get to shows occasionally what with the cost of the show itself coupled
with travel and hotel expenses but it is getting to be a real lottery as to wether you get to see the performer
on whose back the show is sold. Bring back the days when the show was the star.
Surely this must have been known for some time. Why has it not been brought to the attention of the
poor sods laying out 50 quid per seat berfore now.
You are right. I'm not happy !

I am not even going to reply to "guest" (who seems to like remaining anonymous for a reason, possibly to keep making bitchy comments he/she accuses other of who simply have a preference of performer?) but it should be noted by WOS that as long as registration is not mandatory, you will continue to have random "guest" posters adding their uneccesary venomous replies and generally imsulting people on the board for no apparent reason.

Yes, her understudy is taking over full time once Lesley leaves.

See Tickets website now says Lesley Garrett (which they've actually misspelt as Garret),
apart from being "on holiday from 7 - 16 March 2007",
when "Lesley is giving her time free to Comic Relief to chair its Fame Academy"
"will be with the show until Saturday 28 April 2007 (except Thursday Evenings)"

Am I right in thinking the Mother Abbess was previously played by Margaret Preece at BOTH performances on Thursdays?
If so, I wonder whether that's changed now - or not?
