Fox thinks Karen is a manipulator, that she's trying to get Gould to do her bidding by seducing him. Why, then, would Fox bother ask Karen, in front of Gould, to say whether she would have slept with Gould even if he hadn't shown an interest in the play? Wouldn't Fox have assumed that she would lie?
