Mel Smith Leaving Hairspray

does anybody know who is going to be taking over from mel smith as wilbur turnblad? mel smith is leaving on 26th january so shouldnt they have announced it by now?

According to the Daily Mail Mel's replacement will be Ian Talbot from 28th January.

Is it my imagination, or is Ian Talbot way too old to play Leanne's Dad and Michael's husband. I know there is makeup etc but surely it is very difficult to play younger convincingly. It will be interesting to see how this casting works.

As someone who saw him perform last night (Tuesday 29th Jan), I have to say the casting is perfect - Ian Talbot turned in a fantastic performance - he was superb as was the entire cast.
