According to the BBC Ned Sherrin has died. In addition to his work as director and writer, Ned was a terrific supporter of the theatre and its performers.

A sad loss.
Ooh, that Bernadette Shaw - what a chatterbox!

Oh dear, I used to like listening to his Saturday night programme on Radio 4.
Always entertaining.

He used to present the Evening Standard Drama Awards from the Savoy for many years, with great wit and authority. That was in the days when they were televised.

Very sad. I hear he was due to direct a new play for Keith Waterhouse on the demise of Fleet Street's glory days.

He managed to unite the wits of left and right wing satirists in a lot of his projects in a way that never happens now.

Good old Ned.
