Does anyone remember this from 2005...there were loads of rumours about a transfer to Broadway/West End...but it never materialised!!

Anyone know what happened to the stunning revival they produced at The Gate?

Would love to see it again...

Yes - I remember it but regret I cannot share your enthusiasm.. It had it's moments but mangled the classic opening bars of Aquarius which are so magical for those of us who remember the original production & recording & this disappointment lasted for the rest of the show - though it did finish strongly.

I thought this revival (re-imagining) was really good. I assume it must have had the same impact on someone from today's generation (ie. me) as it did when it originally opened. I thought this was a much more deserving (and relevant) revival to bring to the West End than say Sunday in the Park with George.

I too thought this was a very strong production. Mostly impressed with the chorus work. They sounded so powerful and made the songs sound (together with the band) amazing.

I also enjoyed it - and can confirm that it was supposed to open off-broadway the year following the London run. The Gate also said at the time that they were hoping to work on another musical which does not seem to have materialised.
The engine roared, the motor hissed,
And who could see that the road would twist
