Totally agree with you. The tickets are expensive. Not to mention, a lot of my friends don't follow musicals and they don't know a lot about them but they do know of the shows that advertise, Wicked, Priscilla etc. and there are so many strong shows at the minute and with people watching what they're spending, the competition for patrons is very strong. Don't get me wrong, I've seen this cast numerous times in New York and they are incredible, I totally get why they are all coming and I am very glad they are. I just don't think they've handled the marketing of this show well at all.
They need to be doing lots of press for all demographics - adverts on during soaps, performances on a variety of shows... All of which I'm sure they will, but you can get decent seats for all previews.
This cast deserve a full house every show, if they aren't going to get that because of ticket prices (at the moment anyway) at least then make people want to pay those prices.
Though £65 for seats that are $252 at the Hirschfeld are fine for me.
