I doubt it would pay its way in town - It certainly did very poorly at our theatre. A pity as I thought it was ok. Admittedly the story now has a cliche level that is visible from space but it's still better than several things that have made it into the West End. I was just thinking about this the other day, were as the decade of the 1980's brought us heavy big shows such as phantom and les mis, these days the shows that are most popular are not however gritty shows with depth and meaning, inface these are the shows that are closing a month into there runs, its the juke box muiscals and film adaptations that are the long runners of this decade. The tables have almost completely turned!
