Just wondering if anyone has heard of any rumours or news about what will be the summer musical in Chi this year! x

Have heard that they were thinking of Barnum, but couldn't get appropriate cast, so they are think of Half a Sixpence- though it's not confirmed. Also, have you heardf about Sweeney Todd with Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton. That apparently IS confirmed for 2011- cast weren't available 'til then!

I've loved the past two Chichester musicals, especially the simple take on Oklahoma which so many people moaned about. whatever it is this year, I'm sure it'll be good!

I've travelled down to Chi for the past few years for their summer season and while I've thought their musicals are good, they are toally outdone by some of the plays they put on! Oklahoma was good, but nothing special. I wasn't that keen on The Music Man either. The best one I've seen was Babes in Arms which was very good considering it's one of the lesser known American musicals! I think people are starting to tire of the American musicals an so wish they'd bring in something else! Saying that, if they MUST stick to ther American rutes then I'd love them to bring Calamity Jane to Chi! x

I thought the Sweeney Todd revival was just a stupid wikipedia rumour, that's awesome if it's true, although 2011 is a long time away. The Pajama Game seems like a good idea, and quite likely. I've wanted to see it for quite a long time now.

I've also heard a strong lean towards Pajama Game, although haven't heard confirmation.

Very likely to be a Sondheim to tie in with birthday and other shows getting in on the publicity hike - Into the Woods at Regents Park, Passion at Donmar, Sweeney Todd Northern Ireland premiere, Anyone Can Whistle at Jermyn Street Theatre, Merrily We Roll Along, Leicester Curve, Company (2011) a Sheffield Crucible and Sweeney Todd at Chichester 2011.

Plus the obligatory 80th Birthday Concert at the Palladium (RD Productions at the helm once more).

If it is Paul Kerrson, my money would be on David Needham!
