I have tickets booked for Les Mis at the Queens Theatre and the information with the tickets says dress appropriately for best seats in the house, no jeans or trainers. Can anyone tell me if it is really necessary to dress up as I am going straight from work and I usually wear jeans and trainers to work and don't really want to have to get changed. Are they really that formal at the Queens?

When I went to see Les Mis I was wearing jeans and my converses (they are black though), I just wore a smart jumper with them. But no they aren't that strict.

I've never had any problems turning up at Les Mis in jeans.

As long as you're wearing clothes, there's no problem. For the sake of the rest of the audience, leave your stinkiest shoes, squeakiest coats, and tallest hats at home.

Heck! Turn up in shorts and a tank top and see them try to chuck you out after paying full wack for a ticket.

Given that you're there to watch the show, not to show off that you're there to watch the show, appropriate dress is something you feel comfortable in.
In my opinion anyone interested in improving himself should not rule out becoming pure energy.

Although I believe it's considered bad form to wave your giant red flag from the audience.
I wouldn't say a word that could be reckoned as injurious,
But to find a mother younger than her son is very curious,
And that's the kind of mother that is usually spurious.

You can wear it, but don't be surprised when people who turn up wearing £500 Marc Jacob dresses and pearls feel as though you're disrespecting them. Honestly I would really take a decent change of clothes. It doesn't have to be a suit and tie, but scraggly work clothes is acceptable but a bit annoying for everyone else.

£500 Marc Jacob dresses ? blink.gif I've yet to see that in a regular West End theatre filled with tourists. I rather have someone in jeans and a clean t-shirt next to me than someone like the woman next to me at La Cage last weekend who was wearing a pink (!) feather boa (!) to a black corsage and kept rearranging the damn thing all the time, so pink fluff rained down on me.

Goodness me, surely nobody would actually care or think like this?

If anything they'll be happier that anyone in scruffy clothes is making them look swisher.
