Deathtrap Brings Horror to the Small Screen???

Deathtrap, Ira Levin‘s comedy thriller which is being revived on the West End from 7 September 2010 (previews from 21 August), has caused a stir with its star studded feature trailer. The video, which does not give away the plot, but shows the characters interacting at the wooden cabin in which play is set, has even drawn praise from the New York Times who said it had “production values that rival anything to come out of today’s Hollywood horror movie machine.” The video is the first of its kind to be produced by arts marketing agency Dewynters, but will no doubt set the bar for other London shows looking to entice audiences through video content. The revival will see Glee actor Jonathan Groff make his West End debut opposite Simon Russell Beale, who was recently seen in the National Theatre’s London Assurance and is one of the West End’s biggest names. The thriller is directed by Matthew Warchus with a cast which also includes Claire Skinner and Estelle Parsons. The original production of Deathtrap was a hit on Broadway in 1978 and won three Tony Awards. Click More to see the video in full.
