Carrying On As Normal

About the Show

A new and updated version of the marvellously evocative play seen here last November. Although hostilities ceased on November 11th 1918 the Peace Treaty was not signed until 28th June 1919. Three weeks later, huge crowds gathered to watch 15,000 troops take part in a Victory Parade through London. Towns and villages held their own celebrations with thanksgiving services and street parties. The original play has now been extended to include a snapshot of how Monmouth celebrated and remembered those who did not return.
