You won’t want to miss this dazzling Northern musical about working-class Yorkshire lass Viv Nicholson who won a fortune on the Football Pools. Opening at the Royal Exchange Theatre on Saturday 23 Nov, the award-winning musical Spend Spend Spend is not your traditional Christmas production – it’s wild, funny and full of pizzazz!
From rags-to-riches and back again, we follow working-class Yorkshire lass Viv who won a fortune on the Football Pools in 1961 went on lavish spending-sprees, splashing out on furs, cars, champagne and parties – until it all came crashing down around her. This profoundly moving musical is packed with ‘colour and chaos’, and displays plenty of iconic fashion moments from throughout the decades for you to keep an eye out for!
Directed by Josh Seymour and starring Rachel Leskovac who was nominated for an Olivier Award for her portrayal of the young Viv Nicholson in the original London production, this big-hearted production offers the perfect night out with family and friends this festive season.
From the two-up two-downs of Castleford to the grandeur of Garforth, to new handbags and husbands, Viv faces the ultimate question: after the champagne stops flowing, can money really buy happiness?
What’s even better is that you don’t need to Spend Spend Spend (a lot) to have a great night at the Royal Exchange theatre, with plenty of ticket offers available such as; half-price previews, £10 Banquettes and Day seats, Pay What You Can (PWYC), and Under 30’s £7 tickets.
