Kourtney Kardashian is a love/hate letter to outrageous luxury and artistic genius, and also the joyous, dreadful punchline to a joke that’s worn so thin that you can see right through to what’s on the other side of it… The show draws on a conceptual ace card hidden in the family history of one of the artists and danced playfully around the rules and conventions of classic opera, with an orchestra of laptops, a multispeaker sound system chorus and performers with second voices carried on their bodies.
Kourtney Kardashian follows a ballet called Kim Kardashian (2016), and a stage play called Khloe Kardashian (2017), as the final part of an accidental trilogy of performances about high art and celebrity and our increasingly tenous grip on reality in the 21st century.
