Having performed a series of cabarets at the Barbican Art Gallery and a charity concert for Bono and Chris Martin, “cabaret kings” William Ludwig and Dean Austin return with “Weimar, Now! – Berlin Cabaret Songs”. “Weimar, Now!” is a journey back to the dark, exciting Kabarett of 1920s Berlin. The free spirit of Weimar Berlin was explored in songs through criticism of government and the airing of previously taboo themes of gender conflict, corruption and homosexuality. Join Singer William Ludwig and MD Dean Austin for an evening of the songs of Brecht/Weill, Hollaender, Spoliansky and others. Satirical and confrontational, in today’s political climate these songs are as relevant and current as they were almost a hundred years ago.
