Tick Box Other – No Issue/Is This A Test?/Births, Marriages and Social Media

Being a parent. What if you’re not convinced you want to be one? What if it just didn’t happen? Introducing three plays that open the conversation about what it can mean to take that ‘other’ path. Tick Box Other is a collection of new short plays that take a closer look at the ups and downs of considering life without children. These candid and sometimes comic accounts explore the thoughts, feelings, challenges and pressures that can arise when staring in the face of one of life’s biggest questions. A snapshot of a subject that throws up lots of questions – and doesn’t always have a definitive answer.

We’ve put this event together in order to represent the voices of people who might be grappling with the decision not to have children. Alternative stories that go a little deeper than the simplified ‘child-less’ or ‘child-free’. After all, there are a multitude of reasons and perspectives out there regarding parenthood. This evening aims to shine a light on just a few.
