About the Show

The renowned Cornish shanty singers bring the traditional songs of the sea to the city as part of their UK tour

Formed from a lifelong friendship and shared experience, the Fisherman’s Friends have sung songs of the sea for 30 years. From the Platt of their hometown Port Isaac, a beautiful and picturesque fishing village on the coast of the Atlantic-facing Cornwall, they have made a musical home and a blossoming career. The original ‘Buoy Band’ have proven themselves in the mainstream through their unique combination of music, tradition and friendship.

A decade ago they signed a record deal that saw their album Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends go Gold as they became the first ever traditional folk act to land a UK top ten album. The incredible true story of how that happened is also told in the hit feel good movie of the year Fisherman’s Friends out Friday 15 March, with cameo appearances from the group whose voices also appear on the soundtrack.
