Hollyoaks Actor’s Football Drama Comes to King’s Head
The play tells the true story of the Liverpool fan who traveled to Istanbul to watch his heroes play AC Milan in the 2005 Champions’ League Final, scammed his way into a VIP box and found himself sitting next to none other than the Italian Prime Minister. The role of Kenny will be played by Paul Duckworth, who starred as Ringo in the 1994 film about the Beatles, Backbeat.
As Kenny recounts his life from the 1980s to the present day, Beating Berlusconi uses football as a metaphor for Britain's political and socio-economic ups and downs in the late 20th and early 21st-centuries. The play, which is Graham-Davies's first, is directed by Matt Rutter and designed by Mike White.
