Initial Norfolk and Norwich Festival line-up announced

A production of ”Driftwood” performed by Australian circus company Casus will headline the festival

The first six shows programmed for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2017 have been announced.

Headlining next year's festival, which is one of the four largest in the UK, is a production of Driftwood by Casus, an Australian circus company. The show will run in the Spiegeltent and features aerial hoops, rope and sings and acrobalance.

Circus features elsewhere in the line-up, including with Finnish troupe Race Horse Company's Super Sunday which focuses on big circus stunts.

Choreographer Akram Khan brings his company to the festival with Chotto Desh, which looks at a young man's memories and dreams from Britain to Bangladesh. Theatre company Quarantine will also feature in the festival, with their piece Summer. Autumn. Winter. Spring. which is made up of three live performances and a film, each with a different, distinct focus.

Music announced includes jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater as well as Beethoven with Thomas Ades, which will be performed at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich.

The Norfolk and Norwich Festival runs from 12 to 28 May 2017. Taking place in various venues across the city and county, the line-up features international as well as local talent.
