Thompson and Terfel have received rave reviews in New York for their performances in a concert version of Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical
Oscar-winner Emma Thompson and opera star Bryn Terfel may reprise their performances in Sweeney Todd, which is currently playing a limited run care of the New York Philharmonic.
The concert performance is directed by Lonny Price with musical direction by Alan Gilbert, and features Terfel in the title role opposite Thompson as the pie-making Mrs Lovett.
Showbiz blogger Perez Hilton reported that Thompson "more than holds her own with Broadway greats". Its final performance in New York is tomorrow night (8 March).
According to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, "There’s chatter about Bryn and Emma repeating the concert in London, but it’s a question of finding a set of compatible dates."
Thompson, a two-time Oscar winner, told Bamigboye she would "do it again in a shot".
