Wicked: One Wonderful Night musical concert special announces UK broadcast plans

A television special celebrating the cinematic release of Wicked: For Good is set to air on Sky and NOW.

Titled Wicked: One Wonderful Night, the two-hour broadcast will feature the film’s principal cast, with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande leading performances. They will be joined by co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode. The event includes musical arrangements, cast interviews, and footage from behind the scenes of the film.

The programme, set to air on 8 November, was filmed at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, which was designed to resemble the Emerald City. It features a 37-piece live orchestra conducted by Stephen Oremus. Dance routines inspired by the films will be performed, choreographed by Christopher Scott, who also choreographed both Wicked films.

During the broadcast, world premiere clips from Wicked: For Good will be shown, including segments featuring two new original songs written for the film by Stephen Schwartz, the musical’s original composer and lyricist. The special will also offer a first listen to other songs from the upcoming film, due to be released on 21 November.

The event will also include appearances from the film’s director, Jon M Chu, and Schwartz, alongside other guests.

Wicked: One Wonderful Night is produced by Fulwell Entertainment, with Ben Winston and Raj Kapoor acting as executive producers.
