Clint Dyer is currently starring as Cutler in the National Theatre's production of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. His previous theatre credits include The Royale (Bush Theatre) and The Big Idea: The New Order (Royal Court). He also directed the Olivier Award nominated show The Big Life (Apollo Theatre).

We caught up with him to find out which six things he couldn't live without in his dressing room.

The Hairbrush

CD: This is to get 'Cutlers' waves. Hard and soft brush. Depending on my hair's mood.

The Banana

CD: No-one wants to hear my stomach rumble.

The Hair Gel

CD: Gel to keep it down! No-one likes that unruly curl.

The Lemon

CD: Lemon because I have a cold 🙁

The Blues Harp

CD: Blues harp… Fantastic warm up and just makes me feel good.

The Script

CD: Script for last minute amnesia.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom opens at the National Theatre on 2 February.
