Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, In the Heights is a journey into Washington Heights, one of Manhattan's most vibrant communities

With a Latin and hip-hop infused score, In the Heights was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, winning four for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations. It was also nominated for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

We were invited along for a sneak peek at rehearsals for the UK premiere opening next week at the Southwark Playhouse. We spoke with Nathan Amzi (Piragua Guy), Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (Daniela) and Sam Mackay (Usnavi) to find out more about the production and shot an exclusive sample of Christina Modestou (Nina) singing "Breathe".
