Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch has confirmed the full cast for its upcoming London transfer.

The new London season marks the fourth version of the musical parody, which gives the legendary Ursula a chance to share her backstory, in a “tell-all tale of sex, sorcery and suckers.”

Previous iterations have played in Edinburgh, Birmingham, London, and across the UK on tour following its first premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019. This version enjoyed a recent festive season at the Lowry. A Swedish-language staging is currently running in Linköping.

The 2023 iteration, seen on tour and in London, received a favourable review from WhatsOnStage.

Meanwhile, this 2026 run will include a new set, costumes, material and characters, and has a running time of two hours and 15 minutes including an interval.

Returning to the show are Sam Buttery as Ursula, Allie Dart as Sebastian and others, Blair Robertson as King Triton and others, James Spence as Eric and Others and Freya McMahon as ensemble.

Julie Yammanee joins the cast as Ariel, alongside ensemble members Jacob Whawell and Kelly Sweeney.

Unfortunate has a book and lyrics by Robyn Grant and Daniel Foxx, music by Tim Gilvin, direction by Grant, set and costume design by Jasmine Swan, choreography by Melody Sinclair-Marsh, puppetry and movement direction by Laura Cubitt, orchestration, music production and supervision by Nikki Davison and Joe Davison for Auburn Jam, sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph, lighting design by Adam King, and puppet design by Mikayla Teodoro and Jasmine Swan and puppet makes by Teodoro.

Casting direction is by Will Burton, production management by James Anderton and associate direction by Eliza Beth Stevens. The creative associate is Dart, the theatrical magic consultant is Chris Cox, the intimacy director is Maisie Carter, the costume supervisor is Beth Qualter Buncall, and props are by Props by Eve.

Unfortunate will play at The Other Palace from 6 February to 5 April 2026.

The producers are Wildpark Entertainment, Runaway Entertainment, The Vaults, Stoddart Entertainment and Dianne Roberts.
