The cast for the world premiere of Howard Jacobson’s novel has been announced
Tracy-Ann Oberman and Elliot Levey will lead the cast of the world premiere of Howard Jacobson's The Mighty Walzer, due to open at the Royal Exchange Theatre in June.
Oberman (Doctor Who, EastEnders) will play matriarch Sadie Walzer and Levey (Coriolanus, The Ruling Class) will play Oliver in Simon Bent's adaptation of Jacobson's homage to Manchester which follows Oliver as he discovers the world of ping pong.
The cast is completed by Daniel Abelson, Joe Coen, David Crellin, Ilan Goodman, Ann Marcuson, James Parris, Lily Sacofsky and Jonathan Tafler.
Jonathan Humphreys directs and said: "I am incredibly excited about this razor sharp group of actors we have to perform Simon Bent’s dazzling new adaptation of Howard’s Manchester masterpiece. They are an inordinately talented bunch who are going to bring 1950s Manchester into startling high definition at the Exchange this July."
The Mighty Walzer runs at the Royal Exchange Theatre from 30 June to 30 July.
