Following numerous rumours and reports, Sonia Friedman Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment have confirmed the development of a new stage work by Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino.

The piece, titled The Popinjay Cavalier, is described as a “swashbuckling comedy” written and directed by Tarantino and set in 1830s Europe. The production is billed as a comedy of deception and disguise.

According to the announcement, The Popinjay Cavalier will be drawing on Tarantino’s well-known writing style. The show is currently planned to open in the West End in early 2027, in a theatre yet to be confirmed, following a period of development during 2026.

Casting, creative team, dates and further details are to be announced.
