New owners at the venue’s pub will redevelop the space from December this year
Theatre N16 will leave its existing venue in December 2017 after two years at the space in Balham, south London.
With almost 180 productions since 2015, the venue has offered performance spaces and versatile contractual agreements to over 110 new writers, and 42 productions transferring from other venues across the world. More recently it moved to promoting female and BAME performers and their work. Theatre N16 is also one of the few London venues to have signed up to the deal to guarantee pay to all creatives working for the venue.
However, the theatre has today announced that it will no longer be able to continue operating from its home at The Bedford pub in Balham, as new owners seek to redevelop the property.
Executive director of Theatre N16 Jamie Eastlake says: ""This is a call to arms. We have to find somewhere – and we need help. Having good solid fringe theatre models is what creates new work and new artists and feeds the West End."
Anyone with recommendations for venues is advised to contact Theatre N16.
