Hamnet has marked its opening weekend in the UK!

Winners have been revealed for the 2026 Golden Globes, and among them are a wealth of stage stars.
Hamnet, the film adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, received six nominations. It won for Best Picture (Drama) and for Jessie Buckley‘s leading performance as Agnes Shakespeare, in the story set in 1580s England and centres on the death of their young son, Hamnet, and the impact of this loss on both their marriage and her husband’s later writing. Meanwhile, her co-star Paul Mescal (who plays William Shakespeare) was also nominated.
A WhatsOnStage Award-nominated stage version of the novel previously ran at the RSC and in the West End.
In addition, Jack Thorne’s and Stephen Graham’s Adolescence won Best Limited Season. Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty each continued their winning streaks for their performances in the single-shot show.
Wicked: For Good, the second part of Jon M Chu’s screen adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, which was released in November, missed out on picking up any awards. Erivo and Grande were (again) nominated for their performances as Elphaba and Glinda, while the film was also nominated for box office achievement. “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters took home the prize for Best Original Song, beating Stephen Schwartz’s two new additions for the film.
Three-time Golden Globe winner Helen Mirren was presented with the Golden Globes’ Cecil B DeMille Award in recognition of her contributions to the film and television industries.
Other winners include Sinners, The Pitt, and The Studio.
