Sophie Thompson drops out of National Theatre's Peter Pan

The actress has had to step down from the production due to a broken wrist

Sophie Thompson has had to withdraw from the upcoming production of Peter Pan due to run at the National Theatre from November.

The actress was due to play the role of Captain Hook and Mrs Darling but, due to a broken wrist, will no longer be performing.

Anna Francolini, who starred in the NT's recent wonder.land will take over the roles.

Sally Cookson's production originally ran at Bristol Old Vic and has been devised by the company and features double casting, which was how JM Barrie originally intended roles to be played.

The rest of the cast includes Saikat Ahamed, Suzanne Ahmet, Marc Antolin, Lois Chimimba, Laura Cubitt, Phoebe Fildes, Felix Hayes, Paul Hilton, John Leader, Amaka Okafor, John Pfumojena, Jessica Temple, Dan Wheeler and Madeleine Worrall.

Peter Pan runs in the Olivier Theatre, National Theatre, from 23 November to 4 February with previews from 16 November.
