
Jonathan Church Productions has announced a new UK tour of Singin’ in the Rain, with performances scheduled at venues across the country in 2027.
Based on the MGM film, Singin’ in the Rain follows silent film stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont as Hollywood transitions to talking pictures, forcing major changes both on and off screen. The musical includes songs including “Good Morning”, “Make ’em Laugh” and “Singin’ in the Rain.” It has book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with numbers by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed.
Jonathan Church’s production previously played in the West End and returned to Sadler’s Wells in 2021. The staging using 14,000 litres of water across each performance.
As already announced, the tour will open in Sheffield at the Crucible Theatre (26 November 2026 to 16 January 2027), as the venue’s festive musical.
Into the new year, it will be visiting Bromley’s Churchill Theatre (28 January to 6 February), Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion (9 to 13 February), Belfast’s Grand Opera House (16 to 20 February), Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre (23 to 27 February), Sunderland Empire (2 to 6 March), Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre (9 to 13 March), Dartford’s Orchard Theatre (16 to 20 March), Milton Keynes Theatre (23 to 27 March), Leeds Grand Theatre (30 March to 3 April), Woking Theatre (6 to 10 April), Liverpool Empire (13 to 17 April), Glasgow’s King’s Theatre (20 to 24 April), Wycombe Swan (27 April to 1 May), Edinburgh Playhouse (4 to 8 May), Birmingham Hippodrome (11 to 15 May) and Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre (25 to 29 May).
The production will also return to London for a run at Sadler’s Wells Theatre from Wednesday 2 June to Saturday 3 July 2027. At Sadler’s Wells, a BSL interpreted post-show talk will take place on Thursday 10 June, with a captioned performance on Saturday 19 June and an audio described performance with touch tour on Saturday 26 June.
The production will then continue to Norwich Theatre Royal (6 to 10 July), The Lowry in Salford (20 to 31 July), Eastbourne ‘s Congress Theatre (3 to 7 August), Nottingham Theatre Royal (10 to 14 August) and Cardiff’s New Theatre (24 August to 5 September).
It is directed by Jonathan Church, with choreography by Andrew Wright, with additional choreography by Jayne Elster. The production is designed by Simon Higlett, with lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Gareth Owen, video by Ian Galloway, music supervision by Robert Scott, orchestrations by Larry Blank, associate direction by Brendan Cull, associate choreography by Kelly Ewins and associate costume design by Karen Large. Casting is by Olivia Laydon for Jill Green casting.
