Ahead of tonight’s opening of Madame de Sade, here’s a glimpse of the stunning design and costumes being showcased in the third instalment of the Donmar’s stellar West End season at the Wyndham’s Theatre.
Yukio Mishima’s little known 1965 drama Madame de Sade, translated by Donald Keene, centres on five women affected by the debauchery of the Marquis de Sade, including his wife and mother.
The Donmar production is directed by Michael Grandage (who helmed the highly acclaimed productions of Ivanov and Twelfth Night) and designed by Christopher Oram. It opens tonight (18 March, previews from 13 March) and runs until 23 May 2009.
