Tennant has returned to the RSC to play the title role in new artistic director Gregory Doran’s production
Production photos have been released for the Royal Shakespeare Company's revival of Richard II, with Doctor Who star David Tennant in the title role.
Tennant, returning to the company for the first time since his acclaimed performance as Hamlet in 2008/09, is sure to raise eyebrows with his new hairstyle – which reportedly comprises real hair extensions.
Richard II, which is helmed by new RSC artistic director Gregory Doran (read our 'Changing of the Guard' interview), also features Nigel Lindsay, Oliver Ford Davies, Michael Pennington and Emma Hamilton.
It runs in Stratford-upon-Avon from 17 October to 16 November 2013 (previews from 10 October) before transferring to the Barbican Theatre in London on 9 December for a seven-week run.
Richard II will be broadcast to cinemas worldwide on 13 November 2013 as the first production in the 'Live from Stratford-Upon-Avon ' initiative.
