The winners of the Clarence Derwent Awards have been announced by actors' union Equity, recognising supporting performances from 2016 and 2017, having not been awarded last year.

Sheila Atim won for her performances in the Donmar's all-female performance of The Tempest and Les Blancs at the National Theatre, Kate O'Flynn for her portrayal of Laura in The Glass Menagerie.

Peter Polycarpou's turn in Oslo at the National Theatre and West End earned him an award, and Jonjo O'Neill won for Unreachable at the Royal Court and Cymbeline at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

The awards are presented by the actors' unions in the West End (supporting performances) and on Broadway (most promising performers), with recent winners including Ben Platt for Dear Evan Hansen, Phillipa Soo for Hamilton, Paul Chahidi for Twelfth Night and Sheridan Smith for Flare Path.
