Recently made into a film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, The Last Five Years tells the story of Jamie (Bailey) and Cathy (Barks), two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years.
Known for its unique structure, the musical sees their stories told in opposite directions; Jamie moving forwards and Cathy backwards through their relationship.
Barks is best known for playing Eponine in Les Miserables on the West End and in the recent film adaptation. Her other stage credits include City of Angels at the Donmar and Amelie at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
Bailey's theatre credits include American Psycho (Almeida Theatre), Othello (National Theatre) and South Downs (Harold Pinter Theatre). He is best known for playing Olly Stevens in ITV's Broadchurch.
Brown is a three-time Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist, with credits including The Bridges of Madison County, Songs for a New World and Parade.
The Last Five Years is written and directed by Jason Robert Brown, with musical direction by Torquil Munro. It is produced by Hilary and Stuart Williams in association with Paul Taylor-Mills.
The Last Five Years runs at the St James Theatre from 2 to 26 November.
